Judgment Day

The only one judging you is you. Stop it. Right now. - yoga_girl via Instagram

Some things to remember

"A smile is the cheapest way to look cute." -some random yoga teacher I had once

"You need to understand that it is okay that you are still learning.  Don't pretend to yourself or others that you know everything or that you don't have room to grow.  I don't think thats what confidence is really.  You gotta be willing to make mistakes and then acknowledge them in the open and learn from them.  If you hold yourself in such high regard that your world crumbles at the slightest slip-up then you might be bullshitting yourself." - my wise beyond his years boyfriend

This horse and this truth.

So you had a bad day

This list actually made me smile a lot.

Quote of the day

“Let life happen to you. Believe me: life is in the right, always.”

I just received this little truth-bite in a work email:
Diana,  Please don't apologize for changes.... that's what I'm here for. Besides
change is good or at least inevitable. Thnx. Felize

Happy Birthday, Amanda.

My sister is 22 today. She is a mother. She is hilarious. She is brave.

I love my sister more than I can say. My relationship with her has been unique and difficult and completely rewarding. Growing up, we were very different (and in a lot of ways that hasn't changed). When I wanted to talk things out, she'd rather say what she meant and leave it at that. I liked to have tons of people over, she preferred more intimate gatherings. I guess you could also say she does what she wants, and I do what's expected of me--it's been something I've always envied about her. We used to fight like crazy, as most young sisters do; arguing about clothes, the loudness of my music, about who had more popcorn... As we got older, and each of us scrambled through adolescence, we became more sympathetic to one another as young women. There was a dramatic shift in our relationship a few years back, though it's hazy and can't be confined at a definitive moment. Our relationship e…

For a rainy day

“Let everything happen to you
Beauty and terror
Just keep going
No feeling is final”
 ― Rainer Maria Rilke

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”

Coming up roses

I haven't felt like writing very much lately. I don't really know why. I know there are things I'd like to write down. Thoughts about the day. Thoughts about life. But I haven't felt the urge to put pen to paper, so to speak. Alas, here I am, trying to write something that means something and I'm coming up roses. Where does that phrase come from? I'll look it up. Haha, it means something completely different than what I thought! For some reason I thought it meant that I'm coming up empty handed (which makes no sense). It really means that "everything is really just excellent." So maybe that's where I'll leave this ridiculous post.

Everything's coming up roses.
